Here's a few places on the net that are worth visiting in my opinion: TED.com - I believe in building a power habit in one's life I call "What Did I Learn Today" or WDILT - I believe a person must One truly awesome spot to learn something every day is ted.com: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ESPN 360 - full TV replacement via the internet (a glimpse into the future and especially cool if you are a fan of "less than mainstream America sports): http://espn.go.com/broadband/espn360/index ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wall Street Journal - In my opinion, becoming one of the few choices for news that is closer to fair and balanced in political bias - the other mainsteam news choices, Everybody vs. Fox News and the conservative commentator clan seem to occupy the opposite sides of the spectrum with no one really in the "no spin zone". The Wall Street Journals tech site is quite good, although sometimes it falls in love with one technology a bit too much. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Economist - A great place for a different perspective, although they have their Euro views intertwined. But still, well worth the read. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Google is taking over the world and that may not be a good thing in my humble opinion (perhaps a blog entry someday soon). But, Google does have some cool stuff. Google Trends - Compare search terms to see what people are searching for. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CEO Express - Pre-screened useful sites when you are not immediately sure of where to turn can be found at CEOExpress. The regular search engines don't always give you guidance in the right direction. CEOExpress mostly highlights "big sites" but that's OK - when I need something, these sites are the best answer from point A to point B. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Want access to your home PC or PC's when on the road? Or simply want to work on your home office PC while sitting with your laptop downstairs in the living room watching a game? Lots of services exist for rather pricey annual charges but the truth is you can set up access to your home PC for FREE rather easily. All you need is free VNC server at the house/target PC to be shared and free client software on the travelling notebook. You will have to set up one port in your router. Then, if you know your IP address, you can connect from anywhere and have a virtual screen, just like services like GoToMyPC. Here are two free VNC choices (they try to sell you a premium version but it is not needed): If you want to set up an easy address that tracks changes to your IP for you, here is one that works fine: If you signup, you can then have a perma-address to your machine like http: yourlastname.mooo.com so that you don't have to keep track of your IP address when it changes.
